About the role
We are inviting applications for Specialty Doctor in Prosthodontics to join our dynamic team, within the Division of Restorative Dentistry, starting at the earliest opportunity. This is a fixed term post for 12 months, primarily to support provision of patient care via treatment and consultation clinics.
The post is based at the Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals, part of the Specialist Hospitals Board of University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Successful applicants will join a well established team in providing a wide range of complex Prosthodontic and Restorative procedures, including surgical components. They must be experienced in management of patients requiring a multidisciplinary approach, such as (but not limited to) head and neck cancer, hypodontia and dental trauma. Applicants will be expected to have excellent communication skills and some further postgraduate experience in this field. They should demonstrate evidence of both team working and leadership skills.
Candidates should ideally be on/ eligible for the Specialist Register in Restorative Dentistry/ Prosthodontics or at the minimum demonstrate further postgraduate training in this discipline.

1. Provide care for patients requiring complex restorative/ prosthodontic rehabilitation and multidisciplinary care.
2. Support the Clinical Lead and rest of team to ensure that departmental service and quality standards and targets are fulfilled.
3. Participate in the training activities of the Department and potentially supervise the clinical work of trainees.
4. Assist with the development of the clinical service in the Department and help to foster good relationships between the Department and other practitioners
Other Programmed Activities
1. To undertake administrative duties in the Department and Division as required by the Clinical Lead.
2. To ensure that patient management issues relating to clinical effectiveness are in place.
3. To undertake an active part in the audit activities of the Department.
4. Work effectively as part of a Department with both an NHS and an academic component. and foster effective collaboration with all hospital and academic staff in the Department, Division, Hospital and Institution at large.
5. Assist and participate in the continuing professional development activities of the Department.
6. To undertake mandatory training and continuing professional development as required by the Trust.
7. To attend and assist the delivery of local and divisional governance meetings and comply with and promote all clinical governance protocols and standards

Essential
BDS or equivalent
Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC)
Non UK trained doctors must be on the GDC Dentist’s register by date of interview.
Experience in the the diagnosis treatment planning of patients presenting with restorative/ prosthodontic challenges
Proficient and competent in undertaking a range of clinical procedures both fixed and removable, in the field of Restorative Dentistry (to cover prosthodontics and fundamentals of endodontics and periodontology)
Evidence of undertaking previous hospital posts / training / appointments or equivalent particularly in the field of prosthosdontics/ Rest. Dentistry
Able to manage and treat patients with advanced restorative/ prosthodontic treatment needs including HNC
Effective Participation in Audit by demonstration of completed audits
Understanding data reporting and its relevance.
Apply evidence-based practice to clinical care
Demonstrate ability to meet Trust Values of safety, kindness, teamwork and improving
Ability to communicate with clarity and intelligently in written and spoken English; ability to build rapport, listen, persuade/ negotiate.

MSc or equivalent
Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, or equivalent
On the GDC’s Specialist Register for Restorative Dentistry and/or Prosthodontics or eligible for/ in process of application
Previous hospital posts/ training in other disciplines eg Oral Surgery
Ability to undertake endodontic treatment
Evidence of managing/ planning for periodontal disease
Experience in digital dentistry workflows
Experience with dental implant rehabilitation
Involvement with clinical governance
Managing waiting lists and RTT
Research/ publications relevant to Restorative Dentistry
Experience of teaching general dental practitioners, postgraduates and junior staff
