Essential

oAble to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and skill.
oKnowledge of good medical practice and GMC requirements.
oCommitment to Continuing Medical Education and the requirements of Clinical Governance and audit.
oExperience in teaching & supervising medical students and junior trainees.
oAble to teach clinical skills.
oAble to critically review and apply research to clinical situations.
oExperience of undertaking audits and presenting their findings
oWritten and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients & colleagues.
oAble to communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary team members, patients, relatives, GPs and other agencies.
oAble & willing to take on leadership roles.
oStrategic thinker with enquiring, critical approach to work.
oCapable of building trust and confidence.
oOpen to new ideas; willing to learn and develop.

Hold a medical qualification registered with the GMC
Entry on the relevant GMC Specialist Register via: CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) or CESR
Hold a licence to practise with the General Medical Council
Experience in designing & implementing audit programmes
Familiarity with issues of service organisation and development.
Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities to local, regional or national levels.
Experience of setting up and/or developing clinical services.
Experience of supervising SpRs/specialist trainees.
Research experience & peer-reviewed journal publications.

Desirable

Substantive NHS experience.
MD or equivalent higher degree or evidence of relevant research in relevant Specialty.
Higher teaching qualification.
