SHO/FY2 Ward Doctor Orthopaedics

To provide continuous medical cover and support for elective orthopaedic patients, ensuring safe perioperative care, timely management of clinical issues, and effective communication with the multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide medical cover on wards and in theatres for elective orthopaedic patients. Monitor and manage perioperative patient conditions, including early identification and escalation of complications. Support consultants and surgical teams with pre-op and post-op medical management. Liaise closely with nursing staff, physiotherapists, pharmacists, and other MDT members to ensure coordinated patient care. Participate in handovers and ensure accurate documentation of patient care. Contribute to the delivery of enhanced recovery and same-day discharge pathways.
