About the role
The Consultant Urologist must provide senior clinical leadership in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with urological conditions. The role involves delivering consultant-led inpatient, outpatient, theatre, and emergency care; managing complex and high-risk cases; supervising and supporting junior doctors and the multidisciplinary team; and contributing to clinical governance, service development, and quality improvement to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
Provide senior clinical leadership in the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with urological conditions. Deliver consultant-led inpatient and outpatient care, including specialist clinics relevant to expertise (e.g. benign urology, oncology, endourology).Undertake and lead operative and procedural activity, ensuring high standards of care and patient safety. Provide senior review of complex and high-risk patients, including timely decision-making and escalation. Participate in the consultant on-call rota, providing senior emergency cover and out-of-hours clinical leadership. Take overall responsibility for clinical decision-making and outcomes for patients under care. Ensure compliance withclinical governance, NICE guidance, Trust policies, and national standards. Lead and participate inmorbidity and mortality reviews, incident investigations, and learning processes.
