About the role

South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant Community Paediatrician with relevant expertise to complement our clinical team and contribute to the dynamic delivery of services in Warwickshire. A new post has been created to support pathways of working with children with neurodevelopmental needs These are up to 10 PA jobs though applicants wishing to work more flexibly or job share should apply. Direct line management will be by Clinical Lead Community Paediatrics, Dr Vaishali Desai and Ms Naomi Leonard General Manager, Family Division. The post holder will have an office base in either the North or South Warwickshire, according to clinical commitments.

In Paediatric Clinics the successful candidate will provide appropriate consultant assessment, treatment and advice in general chronic and complex paediatric conditions, child development, neuro-disability, child protection and complex behavioural concerns. Referrals are received from a wide range of resources including hospital and community health professionals and other agencies.Clinics are booked accordingly to locally agreed templates that are responsive to local and family needs. Special School Clinic: To assess and manage referrals from school nurse and teachers; in addition to the above referrers. Essential

Full registration with General Medical Council
MRCPCH or equivalent obtained through examination.
Inclusion in GMC Specialist Register for Paediatrics or within 6 months of (CCT)
Portfolio Pathway (Formerly CESR) applicants must be on the Specialist Register at the point of application.

Paediatric Specialty Training
Competence in Practical skills in Neonatology
Training and experience in general Paediatrics (minimum 3 years at Middle Grade level or equivalent)
Neonatal on calls must have been undertaken during part of last 3 years of Paediatric Specialty Training
Experience in the management of alleged 'child abuse' and working with other agencies to safeguard. children
Level 3 Safeguarding Training
Ability to resuscitate critically ill children and neonates
Understanding of Clinical Governance
Ability to undertake Audit and implement necessary change
Attendance at Training the trainer course
Good Clinical Practice Training
Child Centered approach
Enthusiasm for developing services
Good communication skills and efficient time management
Able to work as a member of a team
