General Practitioner

We are looking to appoint a Salaried GP on a fixed term basis until end of March 2027 for up to 3 sessionsat our split-site Training practice in the Black Country. We are involved in RCGP Faculty activity and medical education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We have a long history of training Final Year medical students & GP trainees. The post would encourage any candidate with an interest in medical education to work alongside our experienced GPs including our GP trainer and TPD for City VTS Dr Jamie Hynes & our Mentor for medical students Dr Nicola Dutton however this is not essential, our priority is to develop you as an individual. Our GP sessions involve 16 contacts am and 12 contacts pm. These are a mixture of telephone/face to face . Some are pre-bookable and some are same day bookings only. We have a duty afternoon of 13 contacts (this is considered maximum capacity) and these afternoons are shared between all our GP's. We have 3 Pharmacists attached to the Practice through our PCN who help with acute prescriptions and tasks 5 days a week. We also use Arden's software for templates and help in streamlining GP administration duties and referrals.

Main duties of the job The post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
