This is an exciting opportunity to join the Private Maternity Unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. The Kensington Wing is looking for individuals to join our dedicated private maternity team providing exceptional patient care and delivering an above and beyond patient experience whilst embracing the Trust values.

If you are an experienced and motivated midwife with a passion for exceeding expectation whilst championing a personalised approach to care, we would love to hear from you. You will have demonstrable clinical competencies, and bring an outstanding "can do" attitude which has the patient experience at the heart of everything you do. You will be able to establish your credibility with multiple stakeholders including consultants and midwives and enjoy being part of a high performing team. Working in private maternity maintains NHS length of service and pension contributions, as you are employed by the Trust.

This midwife will work closely with the obstetric consultants on Kensington Wing (Private Maternity Unit) to deliver a high standard of midwifery care to their patients. It is recognised that these women have chosen private consultant-led obstetric care to ensure continuity of care. As Kensington Wing isa whole maternity unit this midwife will participate in a varied work day that may include looking after women who are either in labour or having an induction of labour, supporting women going to theatre for an elective caesarean section, supporting women and their families in the postnatal period or triaging walk-ins as appropriate.

Person specification

Essential

Practising midwife with previous experience
Evidence of a commitment to post-registration education and achievement of all the preceptorship programme competencies
Previous comprehensive midwifery experience in all areas of midwifery.
Evidence of previous management of a ward area or community case load in the absence of the senior midwife.
Communicating effectively with women, staff and other agencies
Facilitate effective team working
Evidence of knowledge of recent midwifery research and clinical audit
Demonstrate an ability to apply research to practice and to support changes in practice as a result of clinical audit
Computer literate
Evidence of suturing skills

Desirable

Practice supervisor and/or practice assessor qualification
NIPE trained
Experience in private care
Proficient in antenatal education classes
Trained in complementary therapies
Lactation consultant or tongue-tie practitoner
