THOMAS' HOSPITAL NHS FOUNDATION TRUST Evelina London Children's Hospital JOB TITLE: Clinical Fellow (Middle/Senior Grade) in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine GRADE: Clinical Fellow HOURS: Full-Time RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of Children's Services ACCOUNTABLE TO: Head of Service, Paediatric Respiratory An opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Respiratory at the Evelina London Children's Hospital. The post holder will participate on the out of hours on call rota (including nights and weekends). Daytime working will be based at the Evelina London Children's Hospital, a regional centre for Paediatric services in the South East of England. All Fellow posts are clinical appointments, but embedded in departments with a strong academic record, and development of a research interest will be encouraged.

To provide clinical care to respiratory, sleep and ventilation and complex airway in-patients and out-patients at Evelina London Children Hospital. To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care. To take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training. To contribute to the management of the clinical service and service development. Key Relationships Head of Service for Paediatric Respiratory, Matron, Consultants and Junior Medical Staff, Nursing Staff, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Allied Health Professionals, Administrative and Clerical Support Staff, Professional and Technical staff, Service Manager.

Person specification

Essential

Medical degree - MBBS or equivalent.
Completed Foundation competencies or equivalent
GMC Registration
Understanding and awareness of particular requirements and demands of working with children and their parents
Demonstrates reflective approach to practice and commitment to personal development
At least one year of previous paediatric or neonatal experience
Evidence of experience in clinical procedures relevant to post
Evidence of working as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team
Satisfactory medical occupational health clearance is a condition of employment for medical staff and evidence of immunity to Hepatitis B is mandatory for all staff involved in invasive procedures

Desirable

MRCPCH part 1 Level 3 Child protection training
Newborn life support training
APLS or equivalent resuscitation certification
Experience in paediatric respiratory medicine
Undertaken quality improvement work or service development
Evidence of contribution to effective clinical audit and clinical risk management
Evidence of interest and experience in teaching
Understanding of the principles and applications of clinical research.
