Consultant in Acute Medicine

The role will be a full-time 10 PA post on Assessment Suite and the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary as an Acute and General Medicine Consultant.

The successful applicant will join a team providing care to medical patients during their admission and managing others as out-patients through SDEC. The applicant will need to be to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team. They will be part of an on-call team to provide care for our patients across a 7-day service. There will also be an opportunity to practice sub-specialty interest within the job plan. Candidates for the post must be registered medical practitioners and on, or eligible to join, the Specialist Register within six months of the date of the Appointments Committee.

This successful candidate will join the current Acute Medicine consultant team in the day to day running the Assessment Suite and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC). This will involve providing senior clinical decision-making early in patient pathways and supporting junior clinicians both in the acute setting and on a general medical ward. The role also involves supporting educational activities for the undergraduate and postgraduate trainees within the acute medicine department.
