About the role

It is an exciting time to join our growing, enthusiastic and dynamic imaging department. At MKUH we are embarking on an extensive redevelopment programme which includes the building of a state-of-the-art imaging centre and implementation of our new community diagnostic centres. We are currently looking to appoint Consultant radiologists for substantive full-time (i.e.,1 whole time equivalent) posts with either/or of the following 5 skill sets: Musculoskeletal, Gastro-intestinal,Genito-Urinary, Paediatric, Thoracic, Neuroimaging. Each post offers 10 PA per week (i.e., approximately 7.5 DCC and 2.5 SPA). As a department we are open to flexible working patterns which suit the imaging service and individual needs with agreement with the Clinical Director The MSK consultant position is a replacement post, and GI-GU consultant role is a new addition to radiology team. Both appointments offer an opportunity to strengthen a well-established cohort of radiology colleagues who deliver a reporting service across 7 days.In general, the Consultant Radiologists on call rota involves covering one weekend in twelve and one weekday in thirteen. MKUH NHS FT have successfully implemented a Tele-Radiology on-call service for CT scans from 2000 hours till 0800 hours every day. The successful candidates will have completed formal training in their speciality area (either MSK, GI,GU Paediatric, Neuro or thoracic Imaging) and will have experience in all aspects of intervention as well

Essential

For full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or eligibility for registration within six months of interview.
Fully registered with the General Medical Council
FRCR or equivalent
Subspecialty training in Musculo-skeletal Radiology and GU/Paediatric/Thoracic/Neuro Radiology
Experienced in the use of RIS/ PACS
Familiarity with voice activated reporting
Providing confident and competent direct clinical care
Experience in developing effective and collaborative working relationships
Wide experience in MSK imaging and MSK procedures / GU radiology including male and female pelvic MRI and experience in Paediatric / Thoracic or Neuroradiology including Neuro Vascular imaging. Experience in RECIST reporting, experience with Lung biopsy and NAI reporting
Knowledge and application of up-to-date evidence-based practice
Possess knowledge and ability to conduct radiological examination in appropriate areas of specialty and modalities.
Able to do general reporting including plain film, ultrasound, CT and MRI reporting unassisted
Understanding of NHS policy and delivery of national performance targets (including hospital acquired infections)
Awareness of NHS Constitution
Understands Trust vision, values, strategic objectives
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the professional code of conduct and guidance issued by the GMC and adhere to this
Able to problem solve in a pragmatic and adaptable manner.
Highly skilled in the management and treatment of patients admitted to the specialty.

Must be able, when on call, to return to the hospital if required within thirty minutes

Ability to balance individual requirements against those of the Directorate and the Trust as a whole
Ability to gain the trust & confidence of colleagues and patients
Will be required to maintain full registration with the GMC as well as remaining on the Specialist Register during length of employment within MKUH NHS FT trust.

Desirable

ALS certification
Post CCT fellowship within specialist area
Experience in GU/Paediatric/Thoracic/Neuro imaging and MDT
