About the role
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Salaried GP to join our friendly practice team to provide maternity leave cover for a period of approximately 9 months, starting 6th July 2026. The post is for between 4 and 6 sessions per week, with the exact number and working days to be agreed, preferably Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The role will involve a typical mix of GP consultations, including face to face, telephone and online appointments, as well as associated administrative work (results, prescriptions, correspondence and referrals) arising from your own clinical caseload. You will also contribute to the duty/oncall rota on a fair and proportionate basis, appropriate to your sessions and experience, and participate in practice meetings and clinical governance activities where these fall within your contracted time. You will be working within an established multidisciplinary team, including GP partners, salaried GPs, advanced practitioners, practice nurses, HCAs and a supportive management and administrative team. We place a strong emphasis on safe workload, teamworking and continuity of care. A clear job plan will be agreed with you in advance, setting out expected clinical sessions, admin time and any additional responsibilities. This post would suit an experienced GP or a relatively newly qualified GP looking for a stable, supportive environment over a defined period.
Clinical consultations Provide care through a mix of face to face, telephone and online consultations. Manage acute presentations, long term conditions and preventive care within the scope of general practice. Undertake home visits where clinically appropriate and agreed within the job plan Review and action pathology results, hospital letters and other correspondence. Generate and sign prescriptions in line with local and national prescribing guidance. Make appropriate referrals to secondary care and community services. Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and comprehensive clinical records Participate in the practice duty/oncall rota on a fair and proportionate basis, appropriate to the number of sessions worked and your experience Prioritise and manage sameday urgent demand safely, with support from the wider clinical team. Attend and contribute to practice meetings, clinical governance discussions and significant event reviews where these fall within contracted time. Work within your level of competence, seeking advice from colleagues when needed. Adhere to practice policies, clinical guidelines, safeguarding procedures and information governance requirements. Engage in CPD and appraisal activities, with reasonable support from the practice. Contribute to the learning environment for colleagues and trainees where appropriate (e.g. informal case discussion, sharing learning).
