General Practitioner

Western Road Surgery is looking for a General Practitioner to join the Practices clinical team. As part of the team, you will be helping the surgery deal with the demand of the population along with the six partners. The role ranges from seeing patients, interpreting pathology and prescribing appropriately. We are a teaching practice so there will be an opportunity for you to train and teach the registrars and trainee medical students. The surgery has 13,000 patients so is very fast paced and we use the triaging tool AccuRX to effectively book our appointments.

Main Responsibilities Clinical Care: GPs assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions for patients of all ages. They perform physical examinations, take medical histories, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and provide appropriate treatments or referrals to specialists when necessary. They also manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and heart disease, adjusting treatment plans and educating patients on self-care. Preventive Care and Health Education: GPs provide routine check-ups, immunizations, screenings, and lifestyle guidance, including diet, exercise, and smoking cessation, to prevent health problems and promote wellness. They educate patients on managing chronic conditions and maintaining overall health.
