Consultant Dermatologist – Full Time

What You’ll Be Doing

In this Consultant Dermatologist role, you will:

Lead, mentor, and inspire our resident doctors and nursing teams to deliver safe, effective care across both outpatient and inpatient settings.

Provide expert clinical assessment and advice for inpatient referrals — with no on‑call commitments.

Manage and treat the full range of general dermatology, with a particular focus on skin cancer and inflammatory skin disorders.

Oversee and support our well‑established nurse‑led services, which include:

Skin surgery

Phototherapy and photodynamic therapy

Biologics and systemic drug monitoring clinics

Patch testing

Intralesional steroid and Botox injection clin

Person specification

Essential

Higher Degree MB BS or equivalent,
Membership or Fellowship of the MRCP
Full Registration with GMC with a licence to practice Specialist Qualification- in Dermatology or equivalent with certificate of completion of training (CCT) Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)
Wide experience in all aspects of Dermatology culminating in the aware of CCT in specialties. Demonstrate interest in surgical dermatology and competent in dermatological surgery. Experience of skin cancer multi-disciplinary meetings
Evidence of participation in staff management Understanding of recent initiatives and changes, including Clinical Governance and Appraisal
Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit Evidence of participation in audit and research Understanding of the role of research
Effective communicator, able to work in a multi-disciplinary team Leadership qualities Familiarity with information technology and general computer skills. Ability to work with colleagues in other specialities to develop local services. Professional attitude towards work Good record of attendance

Desirable

MD or equivalent
BSc accreditation
Experience in other relevant medical specialties. Completion of courses relevant to Dermatology. Advanced training in skin surgery/post CCST fellowship.
Management course and/or qualifications Knowledge of the structure of Health Service
Completion and/or Publication of audit projects Experience of clinical research culminating in presentation and publication of original studies, review articles, etc, relevant to speciality Ability to lead clinical research project
Good presentation skills Demonstration of initiated projects Specific attributes for post UK Driving Licence
