About the role

Morrab Surgery is looking for a kind and dependable Salaried GP to join our friendly, experienced team in the heart of Penzance. This is a permanent, part-time role offering six sessions per week, although we also welcome applications from two GPs who would like to divide the sessions. We offer 15-minute routine appointments, protected administration and pathology time, a maximum of 15 appointments per session and flexibility around working days. You will join a supportive multidisciplinary team at a well-established practice that has cared for generations of local families for more than 100 years. We combine the values of traditional, personal general practice with modern clinical standards and sustainable ways of working. The role includes a competitive, negotiable session rate, six weeks annual leave plus bank holidays, one weeks study leave, NHS Pension Scheme membership and a BMA model salaried GP contract. A flexible start date and the potential to explore future partnership are also available.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality, safe and patient-centred general medical services to our practice population. They will undertake face-to-face, telephone and online consultations, assessing and managing both acute presentations and long-term conditions. Responsibilities will include prescribing and medicines management, reviewing test results and clinical correspondence, making referrals, developing appropriate care plans and maintaining clear, accurate and contemporaneous clinical records. The postholder will make a fair and proportionate contribution to duty doctor arrangements and home visits, according to the number of sessions worked. They will participate in clinical meetings and work collaboratively with our GP, nursing, pharmacy, Primary Care Network and wider multidisciplinary teams to ensure patients receive care from the most appropriate professional. The successful candidate will also contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and the ongoing development of the practice. They will be expected to maintain appropriate continuing professional development, appraisal and revalidation, while working in accordance with GMC guidance, practice policies and relevant professional standards. Person specification

Essential

Primary medical qualification recognised by the General Medical Council.
Full GMC registration with a current licence to practise.
Inclusion on the GMC GP Register.
Inclusion, or eligibility for inclusion, on the NHS England Medical Performers List.
Evidence of appropriate medical indemnity arrangements.
Evidence of continuing professional development and participation in appraisal and revalidation.
Experience of assessing, diagnosing and managing acute illness, long-term conditions and undifferentiated clinical presentations.
Experience of providing safe, effective and patient-centred care.
Experience of safe prescribing and medicines management.
Experience of reviewing investigation results, clinical correspondence and referrals.
Experience of maintaining clear, accurate and contemporaneous electronic clinical records.
Experience of working effectively with clinical and non-clinical colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Experience of recognising and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and significant clinical risk.

Desirable

Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners or an equivalent recognised qualification.
Additional postgraduate qualifications or training relevant to general practice.
Training in safeguarding children and adults appropriate to the role.
Previous experience of working in UK general practice.
Experience of face-to-face, telephone and online consultations.
Experience of duty doctor work and clinically necessary home visits.
Experience of clinical audit, quality improvement or significant-event review.
