About the role
We are looking for high-performing individuals to join our existing team of Acute Medicine Consultants at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. There are currently seventeen Acute Medicine Consultants and Specialists who are supported by a wider team of consultant colleagues from other specialties to manage patients within our service. Candidates are required to have MBBS or an equivalent primary medical qualification, full MRCP qualification and a CCT or CESR in Acute Medicine. We will consider candidates with a CCT or CESR in General Medicine, providing they can show sufficient experience in Acute Medicine at consultant-level. The Acute Medicine department includes an Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Short Stay ward as well as a Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC) and Medical Receiving Unit (MRU). The Acute Medicine team is made up of 17 Consultants and Specialists who are supported by consultant colleagues from other departments to deliver care across our Acute Medicine and Short Stay areas. Opportunities for teaching are available in our simulation suite and clinical skills area. Other areas of special interest are encouraged. The standard job plan is 10PA but less-than-full-time working is welcomed. The breakdown of job plans will be agreed with the successful candidates, using a standardised tool to ensure parity between colleagues. This department embraces flexible working, and candidates are encouraged to approach the leadership team to enquire further.
