About the role
As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team at St Davids Hospice, the Specialist Palliative Care Doctor plays a vital role in delivering compassionate medical care to patients across our inpatient units. This position ensures the highest standards of palliative care, while collaborating closely with nurses, therapists, and support staff to enhance patient and family well-being. By leading and mentoring trainee doctors and clinical specialists, the role significantly impacts the quality of care provided across our facilities, fostering both clinical excellence and holistic support.
Supervisory:Oversees trainee doctors, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, and Clinical Nurse Specialists, guiding their development and ensuring high standards of care. Collaboration: Works with Senior Sister/Ward Sister on patient admissions, daily management, and discharges, while coordinating care with allied health and social services. Compliance: Adheres to GMC guidelines, hospice policies, and legal frameworks to ensure ethical and compliant patient care. Resource Management: Provides cost-effective care by managing clinical resources and contributing to decisions on investigations and treatments.
St Davids Hospice is a local charity providing specialist care for adults with life-limiting illnesses or in need of end-of-life care, as well as support for their families. Each year, we impact the lives of over 1,000 people across Conwy, Gwynedd, and Anglesey. Our services include 24/7 care, Day Therapy Centres offering patient care and bereavement support, and Inpatient Units in Llandudno and Holyhead providing symptom control, respite, and end-of-life care.
