About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Salaried GP to join the North West Leicestershire GP Federation to support the Primary Care Network. GPs are supported and mentored by our Clinical Directors and Chief Operating Officer, and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a patient-facing environment. The post holder will be employed by North West Leicestershire GP Federation and this position would be based at a GP practice within the PCN.

To perform as an autonomous general practitioner working independently with other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose and treat the conditions of patients attending within a primary care setting. To provide expert professional advice to patients, carers and colleagues whilst maintaining clinical excellence. To be professionally accountable and responsible for all elements of clinical practice in accordance with the GMC code of conduct, ensuring the safety of patients and quality of their care is primary.

The North West Leicestershire GP Federation consists of 12 GP Practices covering 116,000 patients. The GP Federation operates the North West Leicestershire Primary Care Network which is the largest within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Experience of NHS General Practice and primary care
Experience of using electronic clinical patient records (EMIS/System One)
Experience of medicines management

Understanding of policy developments related to the delivery of primary care services including General Practice, the GMS contract, Clinical Governance, Network Contract DES and Quality and Outcomes Framework
Knowledge of the health needs of the Primary Care Network population
Experience of dealing with a range of clinical conditions
Experience in triage
Experience of providing home visits
Proven ability to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of own clinical practice.
Evidence of working autonomously, with some support and supervision
Knowledge of Quality and Outcomes Framework.
Knowledge of health-promotion strategies
Broad knowledge of clinical governance
Ability to effectively triage, assess and diagnose
Requesting pathology tests and processing the results, advising patients accordingly
Assessing and managing acute deteriorations/exacerbations of Long-Term Conditions
Ability to assess and manage patient risk effectively and safely.
Ability to work within own scope of practice and understanding when to refer to Senior GPs
Strong IT skills and competent in the use of Microsoft Office and Outlook
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) including recording of accurate clinical notes.

Ability to work autonomously, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure with and understanding of the audit process

Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise and entry on the GP Register.
Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice / Certificate of Confirming Eligibility for General Practice Registration (CEGPR), or equivalent.
Included on the Medical Performers List or eligible.
