The Evelina London Children's Hospital is seeking to appoint an substantive 10 PA consultant post to join the Paediatric Neurosciences department at Evelina London Children's Hospital . This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly driven team in an active and progressive central London teaching hospital environment. This advert is for one of two substantive Consultant appointments, the arrangement is flexible and applicants with a track record of clinical training and/or definable research interests that complement the specialist components of the posts are invited to apply.

The post holder will support the Paediatric Neurology movement, neuromuscular and rehabilitation service.

The Evelina Movement Service; provides regional complex tone management and a supra-regional service, undertaking diagnosis and detailed evaluation and support of children who might benefit from neurosurgical interventions such as continuous intrathecal baclofen (ITB) pump implantation and deep brain stimulation (DBS) neuromodulation.

Person specification

Essential

Eligible for full UK GMC/GDC registration and a License to Practice.
MRCPCH by examination or equivalent
On GDC/GMC Specialist Register for Paediatric Neurodisability, Paediatrics or Paediatric Neurology (OR within six months of CCT at time of scheduled interview.)
Valid Level 3 Safeguarding Training
Valid BLS Training
Previous experience/commitment to Movement service MDTs
Previous experience/commitment to Tertiary Paediatric neurodisability service
Clinical skills associated with management of acute and chronic neuro-disabling conditions
Ability to perform intramuscular and Intraglandular Botulinum Toxin A injections
Ability to perform intramuscular Botulinum Toxin A injections
Clinical skills associated with management of neuromuscular disorders, acute and chronic neurological conditions.
Experienced at diagnostic and therapeutic neuromuscular procedures including undertaking lumbar punctures
Clear track record of clinical governance, audit, management and IT skills
Understanding of principles of audit.
Track record of research, publications/ presentations / understanding / knowledge of Research ethics.
Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff.
Communication; Ability to communicate with clarity and intelligently in written and spoken English; ability to build rapport, listen, persuade/ negotiate.
Accountability; Ability to take responsibility, lead, make decisions and exert appropriate authority.

Desirable

Experience of working in a tertiary UK movement therapy centre, offering intervention such as botulinum toxin injections, or patient selection and management of ITB or DBS
Experience of working in a saliva control service
Experience of working in a rehabilitation service
Valid APLS and NLS
Previous experience/commitment to Saliva control service
Previous experience/commitment to Other comorbidity interest in developing pathways.
Experience of working in a tertiary neuromuscular centre for at least 12 months
Experience in the provision of advanced therapies for neuromuscular disorders
