Essential

Completed at least four years full time postgraduate training (or equivalent gained on part time basis) or have equivalent experience and competencies.
Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required at CT/ST3 level in relevant specialty. Equivalent years experience in a relevant specialty from other medical grades including from overseas will also be accepted.
Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems, both emergency and elective, within specialty and sufficient experience.
Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
Experience of audit management and conducting clinical audit
An understanding of the current NHS environment, particularly in relation to reforms, initiatives and issues
Workplace Health Clearance by time of appointment
Current full GMC registration together with a Licence to Practise
Access to transport and ability to travel to other hospital sites when required
Ability to organise and deliver teaching across the whole undergraduate curriculum.
Ability to teach clinical skills to medical, nursing staff and other disciplines.
Experience of teaching clinical skills to undergraduates and postgraduates.
Knowledge of audit principles and evidence of participation and completion of audit projects.
Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems
An awareness of current specialty specific developments and initiatives
Ability to work effectively as a multidisciplinary team member, including under periods of pressure.
Enquiring, critical approach to work with a commitment to continuing Medical Education and Professional Development.

MB ChB, MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
Satisfactory completion of ST1-2 training, or equivalent.
Membership examination with the relevant UK Royal College.
ALS Certification.
ATLS Certification.

Desirable

Previous experience working in the NHS within the specialty of minimum of 12 months.
Ability to use the evidence based and clinical audit to support decision making.
Critical appraisal skills.
Publications in relevant peer- reviewed journals in the last 5 years
Evidence of having undertaken original research
Evidence of innovation
Understands self (strengths and weaknesses) and impact of behaviour on others.
