About the role

We are looking for a full time Associate Specialist doctor (non-consultant grade) to work in our Medium (MSU) and Low secure (LSU) Forensic Mental Health Services. Farmfield Hospital is a purpose-built secure hospital which comprises of four MSU ward and two LSU wards for male service users. The hospital is centrally located with excellent transport links to London and Brighton. Applications are invited for an experienced full-time Associate Specialist doctor to provide medical support to the consultant, and to function as an active member of the multi-disciplinary team. Secretarial support is provided. The successful candidate will require excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to build effective relationships with service users, colleagues and other professionals. Good IT skills are essential. Farmfield Hospital is a purpose-built secure hospital which comprises of four MSU ward and two LSU wards for male service users. As an Associate Specialist, your responsibilities will include assessment of service users, formulating management plans, and ensuring adequate handovers. You'll perform full physical health screens upon admission, seek collateral history from professionals, complete discharge letters and reports, prepare Tribunal reports, and possibly provide oral evidence. You'll work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and contribute to service development. No on-call requirement is involved. Required qualifications include full GMC registration, psychiatry experience, standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists, recent appraisal/RITA, and preferably MRCPsych and Section 12 (2) approval.

Person specification

Essential

Full GMC registration, experience working in psychiatry within multi-disciplinary teams, good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists, recent appraisal/RITA, at least 3 years' experience in Psychiatry, experience working as a doctor within a similar environment, MRCPsych (desirable), Section 12 (2) approval (desirable), AC status (desirable).
