Consultant Psychiatrist Learning Disability & Neurodiversity (Inpatient) Help shape a specialist service that makes a real difference. This is an exciting opportunity to join Devon Partnership NHS Trust at The Brook in Dawlish- a purpose-built, state-of-the-art 10-bed regional inpatient unit supporting autistic adults and adults with learning disabilities with acute mental health needs. This post offers an attractive recruitment and retention premium of £60,000, paid over three years. We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to provide clinical leadership within a developing specialist service that has been designed with clinicians and people with lived experience. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred inpatient care, while helping to shape the future of a modern regional service. This post would suit a psychiatrist with experience in Learning Disability Psychiatry or General Adult Psychiatry with a strong interest in autism, neurodiversity and complex mental health presentations. You will work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team and consultant colleagues, with opportunities to contribute to service development, teaching, research and quality improvement. You will join a highly skilled multidisciplinary inpatient team and work closely with established community services, alongside experienced LD&A Consultant and MPAC colleagues across Devon. This role offers medical leadership for the Regional LDA Inpatient Unit (1.0 WTE) and the chance to shape the development of this specialist service. You will work within a regional model of care, with admissions considered through a multidisciplinary panel in partnership with Avon & Wiltshire Partnership Trust, supporting highquality specialist provision across the wider region. You will lead on assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and risk management, acting as Responsible Clinician where appropriate. You will work closely with health and social care partners to support admission avoidance, timely discharge and successful repatriation. If you enjoy innovation and service development, our QI team will support you to test, develop and embed new ideas. You will also have opportunities to engage in clinically relevant research through strong links with the University of Exeter and our nationally recognised, clinically led research programme. We support training for nursing and medical undergraduates, and you will be encouraged to develop your interests in teaching, training and research. Person specification

Essential

Full Registration with the General Medical Council.
To hold Approved Clinician status at the point of taking up post.
Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview
Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
Excellent communication skills.
Evidence of ability to exercise leadership in a multi-disciplinary team.
Ability to work collaboratively with other clinical teams.
A team player able to inspire and support staff at all levels of training and across professional disciplines.
A commitment to continuing professional development.
A commitment to multidisciplinary and multi-agency working.
A commitment to respect, inclusiveness and diversity
Experience of psychiatric practice in a range of settings, especially inpatients.
Experience of managing patients with LD and/or neurodiversity presentations.
Experience of audit and an understanding of the principles of clinical governance.
Experience of teaching undergraduates and postgraduates.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and managers.
Awareness of NHS management and funding arrangements.
Ability to interpret published research and to apply research findings to clinical practice.

Desirable

MRC Psych Other professional qualification (eg CBT, PSI, CAT ).
CCT in Learning Disability Psychiatry/CAMHS/GA/Forensic
Evidence of new ideas in service delivery.
A track record of implementing service initiatives.
A track record of team leadership or collaboration with other agencies.
Evidence of development of a special interest in neurodevelopmental disorders, epilepsy, ADHD, dementia.
Proven commitment to improving the quality of clinical care.
Evidence of additional teaching skills.

Experience as a lecturer or supervisor.

Experience in Clinical Supervision.

Management training / experience.

Experience of involvement in service development.

Aptitude for and practical experience of research.
