Consultant Psychiatrist - CAMHS Emergency Care Service Part Time - 8PAs We are seeking to appoint an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to work within our Child & Adolescent Emergency Care Service. This part time Consultant post will lead and manage the CECS Service to provide mental health services to children and young people of Wandsworth, Merton, Sutton, Kingston and Richmond as well as providing a range of specialist services to a set of wider, regional and national catchment area. The CAMHS Emergency Care Service (CECS) is located within South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust.
The CAMHS Emergency Care Service provide therapeutic assessment, risk assessment and crisis planning for under-18-year-olds presenting in mental health crisis to A&E Departments and Paediatric Wards at St Georges Hospital (Tooting), Kingston hospital and St Helier Hospital (Carshalton). The Service operates 7 days per week: referrals accepted 9am to 6pm, 9am to 8pm. Assessments take place mainly in A&E/ paediatric wards of local general hospitals whilst follow ups take place in CAMHS borough clinics or online. The team uses evidence-based skills to support meaningful and safe practice, such as Therapeutic Assessment, DBT Skills, Solution Focused Interventions. Main functions of the team: Providing psychosocial and risk assessments, safety planning for young people experiencing a mental health crisis and advising about further support. Providing a follow up appointment to review crisis plan and plan ongoing support to ensure a seamless transition of the young person and their family into the community service if required. Providing advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals working in other agencies and contribute to multi-agency care planning.
