About the role
This is a 6-12 month (subject to performance) Clinical Fellow post in the Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics allied to the Bristol Limb Reconstruction unit. The successful candidate will join an existing team of enthusiastic and motivated Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons and Consultant Orthogeriatricians, covering general trauma, limb reconstruction surgery and specialist hand and wrist services, and other orthopaedic sub-specialties. The service covers two orthopaedic wards and daily trauma surgery at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI). The successful candidate will provide ward-based care supporting the Silver Trauma (OrthoGeriatric) and Orthopaedic Trauma Care service, and on call for general trauma. In addition to ward work the post holder will be encouraged to develop their clinical, surgical and professional skills in the Limb Recon Unit with a view to progressing towards the level of a middle grade surgeon. The Limb Recon unit strongly encourages clinical audit, quality improvement projects and teaching. The successful candidate will work at SHO level on a full shift pattern with on call rota (2B) participation. There will also be at least half a day allocated weekly for the candidate to go to theatres or clinic. The clinical role involves working in the department of T&O in the adult trauma unit as part of the Severn Major Trauma Network. Applicants we consider appointable may be offered alternative Fellow posts if insufficient posts are available.
