About the role
Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology With Special Interest in Cancer Diagnostics, One-Stop Clinics, Ambulatory Gynaecology and Colposcopy This post has arisen as part of phase 1 consultant workforce expansion with aim of improving FDS performance and cancer treatment pathway. The appointment will support the delivery of high-quality, sustainable obstetric and gynaecological services, ensuring appropriate consultant presence on the labour ward, maintaining elective and ambulatory gynaecology activity, and providing supervision and training in line with current postgraduate curricula. The successful candidate will be a General Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in gynaecological cancer diagnostics, including ultrasound-based one-stop clinics (USC), ambulatory gynaecology pathways, and colposcopy. The post holder will contribute to the development and delivery of rapid diagnostic pathways, ambulatory services, and outpatient-based care models aligned with national cancer strategy and modern gynaecological practice. The post holder will participate in the resident consultant on-call rota for Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Women and Children's Hospital, Hull Royal Infirmary. Consultant expansion is underway, and the on-call model is evolving towards a sustainable structure with dedicated resident obstetric consultant cover supported by separate consultant on-call provision for gynaecology.
