Consultant Histopathologist (Skin)

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) was formed in 2017 following the merger of Central Manchester University NHS Foundation Trustand the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust. With the inclusion of North Manchester General Hospital from 1stApril 2021, our organisation provides a single hospital service across the City of Manchester. THE POST We are seeking to appoint a committed Consultant Histopathologist to join our experienced and highly motivated team at the Adult Histopathology department in Oxford Road campus, although there may be a requirement to work across our other sites. It is intended that this post will join the Skin pathology reporting team. Contribution to other subspeciality will be discussed with the successful appointee based on expertise and service requirements. About the specialty: The Skin Pathology team currently comprises 5 pathologists (mixture of full time and part-time) and covers the wide range of neoplastic and non-neoplastic dermatopathology specimens. Experience in Immunofluorescence and reporting inflammatory skin biopsies is very desirable. Further training can be provided for candidates willing to develop expertise in any of these complex areas in dermatopathology.

The appointee is expected to 1. Report full range of Skin pathology is desirable including inflammatory skins and immunofluorescence 2. Proficient with molecular and genomic diagnostics related to the specialty 3. Offer a specialist review service of external cases for patients referred to the service for treatment and/or MDT discussion 4. Attend, review and present cases at the MDTs 5. Work collaboratively as part of a subspecialist team, with a focus on high quality, peer review and patient safety 6. Be engaged in audit and service improvement projects, and participate in the corresponding Pathology EQA 7. Take an active role in teaching and training of resident doctors
