The Trust incorporates St Bartholomew's Hospital, The Royal London and Mile End Hospitals, Newham University Hospital and Whipps Cross University Hospital. NEWHAM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, as part of Barts Health NHS Trust, is a 350-bed hospital that serves one of Britain's most diverse, fastest growing, and youngest populations. The Radiology department in Newham University Hospital is a busy, modern, and well-equipped department with 6 fully digital general X-ray rooms (DR) and 1 modern Fluoroscopy screening room, six ultrasound rooms, a state-of-the-art 128 slice dual source CT scanner, a state-of-the-art wide-bore 1.5 Tesla and a new 3 Tesla MRI scanners, and a digital mammography unit equipped with biopsy module. A second CT scanner is under installation at the moment. We are a completely paperless department with a cross-trust HIS, PACS, RIS and VR system for reporting.THE POST: This post is for a substantive Consultant Radiologist at Barts Health NHS Trust with a sub-speciality interest in cardiothoracic imaging. We are looking for a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our existing team of radiologists to help deliver the service and to support the active training programme.

Person specification

Essential

CCST (or within 6 months of date of interview) or on specialist register
MB BS or equivalent
FRCR or equivalent
Extensive experience in Cross sectional Imaging including Thoracic imaging and Cardiac Imaging
Knowledge of NHS complaints system.
Record of incident and near miss reporting.
Audit experience
Experience of research, presentations to learned societies
Record of presentations at specialist societies
Demonstrates honesty, integrity and appreciation of ethical dilemmas
Presentation skills
Teaching undergraduates and postgraduates

Desirable

Level 3 cardiac CT accreditation
MRCP/MRCS
BSTI nodule training course
Simulated patient safety training.
Training in root cause analysis
Participation in incident investigation
Research grants.
Higher degree
First author publications in refereed journals
