Develop your expertise in non-vascular interventional radiology while working across a diverse healthcare network serving communities throughout Mid and West Wales.

We are seeking a Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in Non-Vascular Interventional Radiology to join Hywel Dda University Health Board. This role offers the opportunity to combine a broad general radiology practice with a varied range of non-vascular interventional procedures, contributing to the delivery and continued development of radiology services across the region.

The successful candidate will join a supportive and collaborative radiology department, working alongside experienced colleagues to provide high-quality diagnostic and interventional services. We welcome applications from candidates with demonstrable expertise in a wide range of non-vascular interventions and an interest in helping to shape and develop services to meet the needs of our population.

This is a new post with the base to be agreed on appointment, joining 24 Consultant Radiologists providing radiology services to the population of Hywel Dda University Health Board, 2.5wte of whom undertake non-vascular interventions.

The post holder will actively contribute to MDT meetings and be competent in a wide range of non-vascular interventions to include fluoroscopic, ultrasound and CT guided therapeutic and diagnostic techniques such as:

Head and neck, lung, liver, omental, retroperitoneal and soft tissue biopsies

Temporary and permanent chest and abdominal drain insertions (e.g. cholecystectomy, nephrostomy and DJ ureteric stenting).

The successful candidate will participate in the daytime Duty Radiologist rota covering inpatient scanning which could include cross cover from the base site. A proportion of the out of hours (OOH) on call is currently outsourced and completed remotely by an online Teleradiology provider. However, the directorate is currently subject to transformation bringing a proportion of this service in-house. The successful candidate will participate in the new internal on-call rota. This will include providing and promoting a flexible approach by contributing to this service completing cross-site reporting and emergency cover for our four main hospital sites where necessary on site and remotely from home.

We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services. We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers. Person specification

Essential

Full registration and a License to Practice with the General Medical Council.
On the GMC Specialist Register (including via Portfolio Pathway (CESR)/European Community Rights) or will have CCT due within six months of interview date.
Valid Certified Advanced Life Support.
Where a sub-specialty interest is required sub-specialty training should be to a level appropriate for UK consultant sub-specialist practice - fellowship or equivalent level experience.
Broad based experience within the specialty area.
Able to demonstrate core competencies and clinical skills relevant to the post.
Experience of leading a team.
Ability to critically assess learning requirements for self and others.
Evidence of organising programmes and teaching all staff groups.
Willingness to teach all grades of professional multidisciplinary staff.
Demonstrates knowledge of current research and best practice in the specialty area.
Evidence of keeping up to date with current research and best practice.
Evidence of locating and using clinical guidelines appropriately.
Evidence of communicating and interpreting research evidence in a meaningful way.
Understanding of the role of Clinical Governance.
Participation in clinical audit (or quality improvement project) and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice.
Knowledge of annual job planning/appraisal review process.
Demonstrates knowledge of safeguarding requirements and takes appropriate responsibility.
Evidence of applying appropriate equality and diversity legislation.

Desirable

Additional Higher qualification(s).
Previous experience working in the UK or NHS.
Teaching qualification.
