Full Registration with the GMC

Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register for cardiology, or within 6 months of CCT at interview

Sub-specialty training in cardiac imaging

MRCP(UK) or equivalent qualification

Valid ALS certificate

o Clinical training and experience in all aspects of cardiology equivalent to that required for UK CCT

o Expertise in transthoracic echocardiography, with relevant accreditation in adult transthoracic echocardiography or equivalent evidence of competence.

Expertise in complex echocardiography (stress echocardiography, TOE, 3D/4D and contrast)

Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months

o Ability to independently deliver complex echocardiography, including stress echocardiography and support valve and structural heart imaging pathways.

Ability to work effectively with cardiology, cardiac physiology and surgical colleagues

o Experience of day-to-day organisation of cardiology or imaging services in a busy teaching hospital

Ability to contribute to SOPs, governance, audit and quality assurance within cardiac imaging

o Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams

Thorough understanding of the principles of medical audit and quality improvement; able to demonstrate ability to lead change within a service

o Experience of undergraduate and post-graduate teaching

o Ability to contribute to clinical research, audit and service evaluation within cardiac imaging

Ability to work flexibly in a changing health service

Excellent manner with patients, being sensitive to their needs and fears

o Commitment to collaborative, cross-specialty working
