About the role
This is a substantive Consultant Nephrologist post based primarily at King's College Hospital and the Princess Royal University Hospital, providing high-quality renal care across inpatient, outpatient and dialysis services. The postholder will deliver specialist care in chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, haemodialysis and immunological renal disorders, while contributing to service development and transformation. Responsibilities include clinical leadership, multidisciplinary collaboration, teaching and training, research, clinical governance and participation in the on-call rota. The role supports excellence in patient care, innovation and education within a major teaching Trust serving a diverse population across South East London.
The Consultant Nephrologist will deliver high-quality specialist renal care across inpatient, outpatient and dialysis services, with a focus on chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, general nephrology and our specialist immunology clinic. The individual will contribute to renal procedures (dialysis lines and biopsies) for the department. The role will be based at King's College Hospital Denmark Hill site and also Princess Royal University Hospital Site, and the Sydenham haemodialysis unit. The role involves leading multidisciplinary teams, providing expert clinical supervision to resident doctors in clinical /educational supervisory roles as well as day to day clinical support. The postholder will participate in renal on-call and cross-site clinical duties, contribute to teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and support research, audit and quality improvement initiatives, as well as unit risk and governance processes.
