About the role

South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust is rated as Outstanding and is seeking to employ 2 WTE Emergency Medicine Consultants on a 8 months fixed term

Applicants should possess full GMC registration, FRCEM (or equivalent) and either already be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of receiving their CCT at the time of interview.

We are seeking highly motivated, forward-thinking individuals to join our team and help develop patient led services that reflect the ongoing changes in emergency healthcare and support our ethos of continual improvement.

Essential

FRCEM
CCT holder
Entry on the Specialist Register in Emergency Medicine or entry expected within 6 months from the date of interview
Full GMC registration
Specialist Registrar training and experience or equivalent
Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining CCT in Emergency Medicine
Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the management of all emergency department presentations
Able to work as a member of the team and to share administrative and management responsibilities
Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
Ability to plan strategically and to exercise sound judgements when faced with conflicting pressures
Ability to motivate and develop the multi-disciplinary team, balancing departmental and personal objectives
Relevant experience in undertaking and organisation of audit and ability to present evidence
Personal experience of audit involvement
Commitment to evidence based practice
Ability to use the evidence base and clinical audit to support decision making
Awareness of current specialty developments, initiatives and issues
Clear, fluent and articulate in verbal and written communication and presentation
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs, nurses, other staff and agencies
Extensive experience and interest in teaching
Ability to teach clinical skills to medical and nursing staff and other disciplines
Working knowledge of e-portfolios
Ability to appraise junior doctors and other staff
Commitment to Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development

Desirable

Higher Degree
Current ALS, ATLS, APLS, MIMMS certification (or equivalent)
Dual Accreditation - Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM)
Supporting Higher Specialist Training and a commitment to supporting career development and simulation training
Level 1 or above training and experience in ultrasound scanning
Research experience
Awareness of service development issues
Willingness to organise relevant audit activities
