About the role

Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in CAMHS 10 PAs Exeter (LocalityBased Community Consultant Role) This is an exciting opportunity to join Children and Family Health Devon as a locality based Community Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for Exeter. The post is based within a vibrant, multidisciplinary CAMHS service and offers the opportunity to develop psychiatry practice and pursue special interests while benefiting from all that Devon has to offer.

This is a community consultant role working across mental health pathways, which include the Managing Mood and Relationships, Managing Eating and Urgent Care. Applications are welcomed from candidates wishing to work less than full time. The Location

The post is based within the Exeter locality, working from established CAMHS bases including Evergreen House, and collaborating closely with consultant colleagues and multidisciplinary teams across the city and surrounding area.

You will be joining a CQC rated Good service with a strong and established consultant workforce across Devon and Torbay. Devon CAMHS is part of Children and Family Health Devon, an integrated service bringing together health, social care, and education provision for children and young people. The service operates a pathway-based model, ensuring equity of access and consistency of care across the county, informed by NICE guidance and current evidence. We are a large and progressive CAMHS service that values diversity, participation, and continuous service improvement, and we actively support consultants to develop special interests and take on medical and clinical leadership roles within areas of expertise, working closely with consultant colleagues across pathways.

Person specification

Essential

Full Registration with the General Medical Council.
Management training / experience.
Experience of involvement in service development.
Excellent communication skills.
Evidence of ability to exercise leadership in a multi-disciplinary team.
Ability to work collaboratively with other clinical teams.
A team player able to inspire and support staff at all levels of training and across professional disciplines.
A commitment to continuing professional development.
A commitment to multidisciplinary and multi-agency working.
A commitment to respect, inclusiveness and diversity
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and managers.
Awareness of NHS management and funding arrangements.
Prior experience working in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team.
Experience of psychiatric practice in a range of settings, especially the community.
Experience of audit and an understanding of the principles of clinical governance.
To hold Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview
Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
Experience of teaching undergraduates and postgraduates.

Desirable

MRCPsych OR equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
Evidence of sub-speciality or other specific training, e.g. systemic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy
CCT Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Aptitude for and practical experience of research.
Evidence of new ideas in service delivery.
A track record of implementing service initiatives.
A track record of team leadership or collaboration with other agencies.

Management training / experience.

Experience of involvement in service development.

Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service

Clinical experience in a range of services within Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

CCT in Child and adolescent / developmental psychiatry.

Evidence of additional teaching skills.

Experience as a lecturer or supervisor.

Experience in Clinical Supervision.
