Essential

Full General Medical Council (GMC) registration with a license to practice on Specialist registration or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
FRCPath or equivalent
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and support staff
Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
Enthusiasm for service development and teaching.
Applicants who are Nationals from a European country or elsewhere further overseas would have to show equivalence to the 5 years training period in the National Health Service required for the specialty.
Commitment to develop an appropriate special interest
Clinical governance: Capacity to be alert to dangers or problems. Demonstrates awareness of good decision making. Aware of own limitations. Track record of engaging in clinical governance: reporting errors, learning from errors.
Audit: evidence of active participation in audit.
Flexible outlook on working hours.
Ability to work across multiple sites when public transport may not be available.
Ability to communicate effectively with clinical colleagues, colleagues in pathology and support staff
Ability to present effectively to an audience, using a variety of methods, and to respond to questions and queries
Learning and personal development: Demonstrates a commitment to lifelong learning and maintaining professional skills.
Demonstrates a willingness to fully engage in appraisal. Self-awareness and ability to accept and learn from feedback.

Desirable

Paediatric/perinatal pathology qualification
Previous responsibility for service improvement.
Management skills.
Paediatric/perinatal Pathology, Dermatopathology, GI pathology
Teaching: evidence of interest and experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and mentoring laboratory staff undertaking specimen dissection
Good presentation skills
