Person specification

Essential

Full GMC Registration with entry on the Specialist register or withing 6 months of CCST
Experience in working in the NHS
Comprehensive clinical experience in General Medicine
Comprehensive clinical experience in Geriatric Medicine in varied settings
Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team
Able to change and adapt, respond to changing circumstances and to cope with setbacks or pressure
Ability to communicate with clarity (written and spoken)
Accountability: Lead and make decisions
Interpersonal Skills
Experience of delivery of undergraduate teaching and postgraduate training
Suitable track record in audit and quality improvement
Evidence of understanding of and adherence to the principles of Good Medical Practice set out by the General Medical Council
Evidence of contribution to effective clinical audit and clinical risk management.
Evidence of understanding of the role of clinical management

Desirable

Experience as an NHS consultant (locum/acting up or substantive)
Previous experience in front door and community services or surgical liaison services for older adults
Evidence of initiative and leadership skills
Previous community experience
Wide-ranging teaching or training background
Development of teaching and assessment programmes
Ability to carry out audit and/or quality improvement work
Ability to conduct & evaluate own projects successfully

Evidence of original research and/or an MD or PhD

Appraisal training

Evidence of contributing to quality improvement programmes for older adults

Experience in clinical guideline development

Staff management / experience of performance
