About the role

As part of the succession planning of the previous GP partner. An exciting opportunity to join our team has been created for an enthusiastic experienced GP, to join our highly motivated team at The Friary to help us to continue to deliver on the range of services required to meet our patients needs. We have positions available for either a full time GP or two part time GPs negotiable hours and days.

You will be joining a clinical team of 2 Salaried GPs, 1 Dispensary Manager, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 HCA and 1 GP Assistant with a longstanding and high calibre administration team supporting. Salaried GP Provide patient consultations, care plans, and prescriptions. Contribute to audits, training, and compliance with professional standards. Engage in lifelong learning and practice development. Share in the teams on call rota.

The Friary Surgery opened in 1999 and stands on the site of a Franciscan Monastery founded in 1258. It was originally erected as a private dwelling in the sixteenth century, and later became the headmasters residence and boarding house for Richmond School. Overlooked by Grey Friars Tower and surrounded by wooded gardens, the building today retains much of its antiquity and original features. However a comprehensive renovation programme has skilfully brought it up to date to meet the demands of modern general practice. We share our building with the Friary Community Hospital, which has excellent facilities, including in-patient beds, x-ray, physiotherapy, phlebotomy community staff offices & consultant led health clinics. We provide high quality, safe, professional Primary Health Care General Practice services to our patients. We focus on prevention of disease by promoting health and wellbeing and offering care and advice to our patients. We work in partnership with our patients, their families and carers towards a positive experience and understanding, involving them in decision making about their treatment and care. We treat patients as individuals and with the same respect we would want for ourselves or a member or our families, listening and supporting people to express their needs and wants and enabling people to maintain the maximum possible level of independence, choice and control.

The Friary Surgery becomes a Heartbeat Primary Care run practice in July 2026.
