About the role

The successful candidate will work alongside a community-based colleagues to provide assessment and psychiatric treatment for Older Adults within the Fenland community across a largely rural area.

The population of over 65's in the Fenland area is approximately 25 000 out of 113 064. In its entirety, the OPMH team had 912 referrals in the past 12 months. Not all referrals require the consultant to see them, many are managed by other staff in the community team. On average the Fenland OPMH service receives 76 referrals per month, with approx. 9 for psychiatry outpatient and 36 for memory assessment

Salary £109,725 - £145,478 per annum plus £40,000 Recruitment and Retention Premium (T&Cs apply).

Clinical:

To lead the multidisciplinary team in providing excellent psychiatric care

To provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plans.

To lead weekly MDT meetings and ensure prompt reviews of acutely unwell patients

To work closely with the CRHTT OP, community teams and liaison services as patients move between these teams

Person specification

Essential

Entry on the GMC Specialist Register
MRCPsych (or equivalent).
S12/ AC approved
CCT in relavent specialty. Candidates with a CESR or appropriate experience will be considered equally and are encouraged to apply
The post holder must have a valid UK driving license and be willing and able to drive
experience of working in a community facing team
Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Old Age
Ability to work in a team.
Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the context of the service within the wider context of developments in the NHS. First-hand experience of developing services in a constantly changing environment and to tight budgetary restraints would be an advantage.
Candidates need to be effective teachers and trainers and be able to guide their own continuing education and training.

Diploma in geriatric medicine
