Essential

Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise
Individuals should meet one of the following: have their CCST in Neurology and be on the specialist register; or be within 6 months of their CCST; or Locally Employed Doctors, Specialty Doctors, and Specialist Grades should submit their evidence portfolio to the GMC via the Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR) in time for approval to be on the Specialist register within six months of appointment
MRCP(UK) or an equivalent qualification.
Knowledge of evidence informed practice
Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of neurological disorders
Clinical expertise in epilepsy.
Demonstrable ability to run an effective clinical service for people with epilepsy and other neurological disorders
Ability to communicate with clarity and intelligently in written and spoken English
Evidence of having worked and being able to communicate within an Interdisciplinary / multispecialty service with appropriate levels of communication through direct discussions with team members, MDT meetings, and presentations to the team
Ability and commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate doctors in training.
Evidence of leadership skills.
Ability to take responsibility, lead, make decisions and exert appropriate authority
Flexibility in time keeping to ensure duty of care to patients
Sufficient to perform the duties of the post with any aids and adaptations
Ability to work well as part of a team and to share and encourage good practice.
Drive and enthusiasm.
Committed to continuing personal and professional development
Demonstratable understanding of the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
Being familiar with, and adhering to Trust policies and guidance on infection prevention and control. Completing all required training and education (both via e-learning and face to face) on infection prevention and control. Including infection prevention and control as an integral part of your continuous personal/professional development and included in your annual appraisal Taking personal responsibility so far as is reasonably practicable, in helping ensure that effective prevention and control of health care associated infections is embedded into everyday practice and applied consistently.

Desirable

PhD or MD or equivalent specialist training
Demonstrates breadth of experience and awareness in and outside specialty
Experience with teaching
Demonstrate an ability to identify and organise the specific clinical investigations and onward referrals relevant to the post
Evidence of being able to engage and communicate at a National and International level
Teaching on formal educational courses.
Evidence of organisational ability: e.g. organising and directing courses, educational programmes etc.
Proven ability and commitment to carry out high quality research, leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals.
